Patrick Collison on the hard question of AI's positive scenario: work, scarcity, equilibrium
mhmazur · x · 2026-11-09
Stripe CEO Patrick Collison shares two reflections on AI. While AI risks are widely discussed, he finds it strikingly hard to picture the positive scenario's larger equilibrium: cured diseases and material abundance are just ingredients. Do people work, and why? What is scarce, how are resources allocated, what's the human-to-AI ratio? He is skeptical that the Culture novels depict a desirable outcome.
