arXiv data shows TCS paper postings surging while physics climbs only gradually
littmath · x · 2026-11-09
Mathematician littmath shares weekly arXiv posting charts for 2025-2026: theoretical computer science postings have exploded, climbing from roughly 50-100 papers/week early on to nearly 400 at the recent peak (stacked across cs.DS, cs.GT, cs.LO, cs.CC, cs.CG, cs.DM, cs.FL). Physics, by comparison, keeps growing but far less explosively, rising steadily from 1,200-1,500 to 2,500 papers/week, with the small hep-th category showing a notable uptick.
