Princeton gives students free ChatGPT Plus — and its student paper editorializes against it

Princeton announced free ChatGPT Plus access for all faculty, staff and students who request it. But the Daily Princetonian's editorial board pushed back, arguing the broad rollout of the basic Plus tier lacks pedagogical grounding and is a fundamentally reactive approach to a technology with uncertain effects.
The editorial contends AI is not academically necessary for a large portion of the student body and may have destructive consequences, proposing department-specific approval instead of universal access.
