NoMac: An MCP Server That Gives Agents a Cloud Mac and iOS Simulators
Stunning-Farmer185 · reddit · 2026-11-09
The author launched NoMac, a remote MCP server that gives agents like Claude Code, Codex or Cursor a real macOS machine and iOS Simulators, so they can build and test iOS apps without a Mac on the desk.
Tools: startmac/stopmac spin up a macOS VM with Xcode in 30s (billed per minute); execmac runs xcodebuild and any shell command, with long builds becoming jobs the agent follows; phone tools launch an iOS Simulator in seconds where the agent reads the screen as text and taps by label; screenshot/input tools for humans.
Design notes: long commands never block a tool call; retrying with the same requestkey never runs a job twice; every human-waiting macOS prompt (passwords, permission dialogs, lock screen) is answered for the agent; reading the Simulator as text saves tokens over screenshots. The Simulator side is open-sourced as simulator-use.
