Researcher Says Anthropic's Bio Safety Filter Blocks Codebase Reasoning, Causing ICLR Errors
josephdviviano · x · 2026-11-09
Researcher josephdviviano reports that Anthropic's [bio] safety filter prevents use of any model capable of reasoning over a large codebase, and that this has led to multiple extremely stupid mistakes slipping into a recent ICLR submission because the model couldn't be used to review the code.
It is a concrete complaint about the real-world experience of model safety guardrails misfiring in non-bio research coding workflows.
