Spotify to let Premium users AI-remix songs from artists by 2027, with royalties

Spotify has revealed an AI-powered remix feature that could arrive for Premium subscribers as early as Q1 2027: users will be able to turn folk songs into EDM, hip-hop into acoustic, pop hits into lo-fi, and even hear songs reinterpreted in another artist's voice.
Key mechanics:
- Fan-created AI remixes will be published directly on Spotify, appear in playlists, and count toward the original song's chart performance;
- Original artists receive royalties whenever someone streams a fan-made remix of their music;
- Spotify has reportedly secured a major licensing deal with Universal Music Group, the world's largest record label.
