Ai2's ToyBlocks testbed probes robot skill generalization; Molmo 2 + ManiFlow completed 15 of 30 episodes

Ai2 released ToyBlocks on November 6: a controlled simulator with a robot arm and blocks where researchers can train on one part of a table and test on another, change stack heights, or hide letters on blocks — separating learning a skill from succeeding in one familiar setup.
The physical-robot result, with its limits:
- Molmo 2 + ManiFlow completed 15 of 30 block-spelling episodes
- Achieved only with familiar blocks and the easiest scene configuration (characters visible and upright)
- This is not a general-purpose robot result
The real value is the testbed itself: Ai2 released data, models and code for investigating where these systems fail.
