ywza: open-source computer-use agent with token-efficient UI extraction and P2P device pairing
Important_Earth6615 · reddit · 2026-11-08
A developer released ywza, an open-source framework that lets an AI model use a computer like a person: inspecting windows, clicking, typing, and running terminal commands. Bring your own model; use cases include automating tools without APIs or MCP, moving data between apps, and testing non-web desktop software like Qt apps.
Key design:
- Token-efficient UI extraction: a lightweight background agent extracts UI elements by ID into numbered lists instead of constant full-screen screenshots; screenshots on demand.
- Multi-window & virtual desktops: AI works in an isolated workspace while you keep working.
- P2P device pairing: 6-digit code pairing, peer-to-peer via public relays, no open ports or servers.
- Flexible integration: built-in CLI, included MCP server for Claude Code or any MCP client, plus any OpenAI-compatible API including local models.
Repo: github.com/alielmorsy/ywza; a live view for remote devices is in progress.
