Spotify's AI song remix feature draws backlash: "dilution of humanity and art"
TuhinChakr · x · 2026-11-08
Per @jackcoder0's breakdown, Spotify will reportedly launch an AI remix feature as early as Q1 2027: Premium subscribers can transform participating artists' songs into entirely different versions — folk ballad into dance track, hip-hop into acoustic, one artist's voice covering another — with remixes uploaded to Spotify, appearing in playlists, and counting toward the original song's chart position.
Reposter @brodieconley pushes back sharply: it's a "dilution of humanity and art" that doesn't enable new creativity, just produces new commodities — "solving a capitalism problem, not a humanity problem." Expect ongoing friction over copyright and artist rights.
