NLP researcher CamachoCollados argues these can all be true at once: AI-generation detection will never be fully solved, yet current tools can be highly accurate and useful amid the flood of AI slop — but they make mistakes and are opaque, so they shouldn't be sole evidence. AI-generated text isn't inherently bad, though most currently is and correlates with author carelessness; better holistic solutions are needed.
