GraphRAGProv: provenance polynomials expose wrong-evidence errors in correct GraphRAG answers
JeremyCMorgan · x · 2026-11-07
An arXiv paper, GraphRAGProv, tackles the problem that GraphRAG systems can produce correct answers from wrong evidence.
- Architecture: runs SPARQL queries over source-grounded RDF graphs, computing answers together with how-provenance polynomials that record which statement occurrences were used and how they were combined.
- Traceability: each occurrence links back to source text, so users can verify extraction fidelity and query logic — turning querying itself into an audit tool for the text-to-graph transformation.
- Findings: an interactive demo across 400 cases from two multi-hop QA benchmarks surfaced extraction and query errors even when the final answer was correct, errors final-answer scoring would miss.
Relevant for transparency-critical RAG domains like medicine and law.
