Greenblatt backs Cotra's warning: 2x AI R&D acceleration could compound out of control
RyanGreenblatt · x · 2026-11-07
Ryan Greenblatt recommends Ajeya Cotra's post on the METR AI R&D acceleration report, distilling her argument: a 2x speed-up is dramatic; it implies a much larger effective "time warp bubble" for staff; this could compound extremely fast; and we aren't prepared. An accompanying chart shows that holding compute growth constant, sustaining a 2x acceleration via AI labor alone may require 4-9x and eventually 10x labor uplift.
