Former OpenAI safety researchers welcomed a congressional letter, initiated by Rep. Greg Casar and other signatories, demanding OpenAI explain why they were fired and raising safety concerns.
The researchers highlight one key issue: the effect such leadership decisions have on OpenAI employees' willingness to engage with third parties — i.e., whether internal safety escalation channels remain trustworthy. One researcher said he is curious to hear OpenAI's answer.
