Claude paints a watercolor tree with a robotic arm: 303 brush strokes, 4.5 hours, mixes its own colors

Developer dhvanil asked Claude to paint an autumn tree overnight using a robotic arm. Around 4am, the model realized it lacked some shades — so it stopped and titrated its own paint, diluting red, sienna and madder step by step on a second palette, then measuring each pocket from a photo.
The result: a beautiful watercolor painting made with 303 brush strokes over about 4.5 hours (speed improvements still in progress). The demo highlights autonomous long-horizon physical decision-making — the model didn't just execute preset strokes but detected a resource gap and solved it mid-task.
