Dozens of AI-discovered drugs in the clinic: rebutting Vertex chairman's claim that AI doesn't work
chaitjo · x · 2026-11-07
Responding to Vertex's chairman—who argued AI "doesn't work" because running it through a dataset of 10,000 compounds produced no medicine—this post counters that dozens of AI-discovered drugs are now in the clinic, some in or approaching Phase 3, up from zero a decade ago. The first approval will be followed by ten, then hundreds—the shape of exponential curves. Timing predictions may be off by years, but denying AI drug discovery entirely is ostrich behavior.
