Amazon blocks shopping agents on home IPs; dev open-sources residential browser relay
unixterminal · x · 2026-11-07
Developer unixterminal reports Amazon now blocks personal shopping-agent traffic even from residential home IPs (it used to only flag datacenter ranges). His workaround is an open-source project, agent-edge-bridge: a key-authenticated .NET 11 minimal API relay on an Arm box that drives a real Chromium browser via Playwright, so remote clients get programmatic browsing with full JavaScript egressing from a residential IP — enough to clear bot challenges that headless datacenter scraping fails. Sessions are single-use with browser teardown, MIT licensed. The bigger signal: the cat-and-mouse between retailers and consumer shopping agents is escalating.
