OpenAI debuts GPT-6 Cyber, a security model limited to vetted customers amid AI cyberattack fears
fortune · reddit · 2026-11-07
OpenAI has debuted GPT-6 Cyber, a model geared toward cybersecurity professionals that the company says outperforms its general-purpose GPT-6 Astra on most cyber tasks. Due to misuse risk, it's available only to a small set of vetted security customers. Fortune first reported the plan in September.
- This is OpenAI's fourth cybersecurity-focused model this year, following releases in April, June, and August.
- Gartner forecast in September that worldwide AI cybersecurity spending would hit $51.3 billion this year, nearly double 2025's $25.9 billion.
- OpenAI is leaning into the market to grow enterprise sales, hiring former cybersecurity software executive Dali Rajic as chief revenue officer.
