AWS makes Kiro Crew bots GA: AI agents with standing jobs and their own memory
shashib · x · 2026-11-07
AWS announced on November 5 that bots are generally available in Kiro Crew. A bot is a named AI agent assigned to one ongoing part of a developer's work—such as triaging new tickets or watching the build—keeping its own memory and only the permissions that job requires.
- Context: Kiro is AWS's agentic coding tool (IDE, CLI, and web app); Kiro Crew is its workspace for running many agents side by side, with bots as the newest layer.
- Problem solved: Running several agents turns developers into dispatchers—returning to find agents stuck on permissions or unexplained fixes.
- Numbers: AWS's Kathy Kam says 39,000 Amazon builders used the internal tool behind Kiro Crew; the sample build-health bot checks every 30 minutes.
- Pricing: Kiro Pro costs $20/month per user with 1,000 credits.
- Caveat: Teams adopting bots need someone to review what each bot remembers and spends.
