Vork: agent-first 3D/VFX engine claims 24x faster rendering than Blender
ravisparikh · x · 2026-11-07
Voyager's ravisparikh launched Vork, an open-source headless 3D/VFX engine built for AI agents (research preview). Its pitch: human-centric graphics APIs like Blender, Unreal and Houdini hold agents back — Vork's core API fits in 2,500 tokens, letting agents write their own shaders, materials, cameras and physics.
Key claims:
- 2x more token-efficient than Blender/Unreal/Houdini; up to 24x faster rendering
- Written in Rust and Slang, GPU rendering via Vulkan/Metal
- Demo: 1 million birds with unique trajectories rendered in 97 sec on one NVIDIA L4 (Blender EEVEE: 31 minutes)
- Other demos: a drone-to-cyberpunk transition rendered in under 15 min on a single GPU, a photoreal 3D-rendered cake (no video model), Nuke-style VFX compositing on real footage, and an agent-programmed black hole light physics via Vork's public light hook
Known limitations: no fog/volumes yet, heavy interiors can crash on Mac, path tracer not yet performant.
