Oc-e-Non-v1: a tersified Qwen3-4B that cuts response length by 50%, built with Heretic
-p-e-w- · reddit · 2026-11-06
Reddit user p-e-w released Oc-e-Non-v1, a 'tersified' version of Qwen3-4B-Instruct-2507 that reduces mean response length by 50% — answering '1+1' with just '2' and returning bare code with no explanations.
- Built with the open-source Heretic tool using its config.terse.toml config; fully reproducible with one pip install
- Qwen3-4B chosen as it's the last native non-thinking Qwen release (Heretic doesn't yet support controlling reasoning effort)
- Author notes the same effect is achievable via prompting; the interesting part is baking terseness into the weights
