MCP Explained: an interactive site that visualizes Model Context Protocol messages and auth
adnan_hashmi · x · 2026-11-06
MCP Explained is a new interactive tutorial site breaking down how the Model Context Protocol works.
- Roles: Host (Claude, Cursor, agents), Server (small programs exposing tools/data/prompts), Model (decides what to use, never talks to servers directly)
- Protocol nature: JSON-RPC over stdin/stdout or one HTTP endpoint, but MCP defines methods, capability negotiation, transports and auth
- Learning format: lessons with step-by-step message-flow visualization (spec 2025-11-25), a spec time machine, and a "Break it" experiment section
A solid entry point for developers who want to understand MCP wire-level details.
