DeepSeek Harness Hits 5.48M MAU, Plans to Pay Plugin Authors in Tokens

Just over a month after launch, DeepSeek Harness is posting impressive numbers: over 1.4 million daily active users, 5.48 million monthly active users, estimated daily token consumption exceeding 91 trillion, and more than 270,000 GitHub stars. Its core design principle is "everything is a plugin"—even built-in features can be overridden, uninstalled, or replaced by third-party plugins. There are now about 35,000 public plugins, and nearly 60% of active users are building or installing their own.
The team has announced plans for a plugin author support program: an official plugin marketplace, traffic recommendations, and most importantly, direct token grants to creators as income and compute subsidies. In creator mode, users can simply describe tasks in plain language and let the agent read docs, write code, and install plugins by itself—use cases already include a self-media workbench, paper reading, and interactive 3D demos.
