Thinky Machines introduced Inkling 2 Small, scoring 31 on the AA Intelligence Index—a big jump over its predecessor. It's available today for fine-tuning and inference on Tinker, with a full weight release planned soon. Per the accompanying notes, the model was trained with RL on hundreds of thousands of long-horizon coding tasks across multiple agent harnesses and context-compaction strategies, moving beyond unit-test rewards to include agentic RL graders that evaluate how the model approaches problems; early checkpoints were secretly tested on OpenCode under the name Fledge-Alpha. Benchmark tables show it competitive with GLM-5.3-Flash, DeepSeek-V4.1-Flash-1017, Muse Spark Open and Kimi K3 on coding/autoresearch evals (e.g. 86.3% on SWEBench Pro v2 Hard, 72.1% on DeepSWE v1.1).
