Parked Prompts: free open-source VS Code tool to queue prompts while agents work
DanWahlin · x · 2026-11-06
James Montemagno released Parked Prompts, a free open-source preview extension for VS Code and GitHub Copilot Canvas that solves a real multi-agent pain point: nowhere to put prompts while another agent is modifying the same codebase.
- Park prompts: write in the sidebar, attach screenshots or files, and save — nothing is sent to any model; drafts autosave.
- Restore unsent: when the agent finishes, bring the prompt back exactly as written and confirm before sending, or run it in a worktree immediately to avoid conflicts.
- Use cases: queue tasks like adding token-bucket rate limiting or upgrading a payments SDK once the current change lands.
- Free and open source, currently in preview for VS Code and VS Code Insiders.
