Alex Danco bans Google Docs Suggestion Mode: it pushes editors into bikeshedding
juliey4 · x · 2026-11-06
Alex Danco shares his team's editing convention: avoid Google Docs Suggestion Mode entirely. The right way is to read the whole piece and write paragraph-level feedback; for line items, use comments so the author makes the change themselves. Suggestion Mode quietly steers editors into "Bikeshedding Mode" over word choices, erodes the author's voice, and outsources the real work of understanding the argument.
