METR chart shows unreleased Anthropic "Model 4" at ~12x self-reported coding speedup
YashasGunderia · x · 2026-11-06
A METR chart cited in this post, based on informal Anthropic employee surveys and Slack polls (which METR itself flags as "very loose evidence"), plots self-reported individual speedup over time:
- An unreleased model labeled "Model 4" sits at roughly 12x speedup, well above Opus 4.5 (2.7x) and Opus 4.6 (3x)
- An exponential fit yields 3.9x/year growth, and a superexponential fit also holds
- Other unreleased labels include Mythos Preview and Mythos 5
The identity of "Model 4" is unconfirmed and should be treated as an unverified leak.
