The vLLM project announced it now ranks #2 among community/independent open-source repositories by engagement in GitHub's latest Octoverse report (behind OpenClaw), and #8 on the fastest-growing list by contributors.
The shared chart also shows llama.cpp (#3), SGLang (#6), PyTorch (#7) and CPython (#10) in the community tier, while the single-vendor/product-led tier is led by Nous Research's hermes-agent with Microsoft VS Code at #6. The team credited the ranking to its community of issue filers, PR reviewers and hardware/model porters.
