NVIDIA releases MetricTrail for long-video camera-motion and metric depth estimation
RexDouglass · x · 2026-11-06
NVIDIA released MetricTrail 1.0 on Hugging Face, a research tool that estimates camera motion and per-frame metric depth from long RGB sequences for visual odometry and 3D reconstruction.
- Combines single-image metric depth, learned sparse correspondences, and local geometric optimization, with supplied or RGB-estimated intrinsics and optional rectified stereo
- Ships a CLI that exports camera trajectories and caches per-frame depth; no dense point clouds or meshes (dense results come from a separate eval workflow)
- Model weights are not in the source repo; the DINO-DPVO checkpoint is planned for a separate release
- Licensing: Apache-2.0 source, noncommercial research-only weights, MIT-based DPVO
