OpenAI pledges residents won't pay data center power costs as moratorium odds hit 30%
Polymarket · x · 2026-11-06
Amid growing public backlash, Bloomberg reports OpenAI has pledged that local residents won't pay the electricity costs of its AI data centers. Polymarket has opened a market on whether any U.S. state enacts a data center moratorium, priced around 29-30% by end of 2026 and 36% by 2027. Qualifying legislation must be state-level and block approval, construction, grid connection, or operation of new data centers; tax-incentive suspensions and local ordinances don't count.
