Ex-$500k engineer now homeless in his car, blames AI job market

Veteran tech author Eric Elliott posted that three years ago he earned $500k/year, and today he is homeless and living in his car. With 28 years of experience, three technical books, and AI engineering work since the 1990s, he still cannot find a job — and frames his story as a warning about the future of work.
A replier pushed back: with AI-building experience and solid fundamentals, why insist on "engineering leadership" roles instead of taking a normal developer job to get back on track — "take anything you can find."
