pvewarden: an MCP server for agent-safe Proxmox VE patching with snapshot-first updates
Mattyhuunter · reddit · 2026-11-05
A developer released pvewarden, a security-focused Proxmox MCP server that lets AI assistants check for and install VM/container updates or reboot guests. Key design choices: snapshot before updates by default, a pool-limited Proxmox API token plus restricted per-guest SSH keys, and a fixed set of MCP tools instead of a general shell. Tested on the author's own PVE 9 setup; early-stage, try on non-critical systems only. Architecture by the author, coding assisted by Claude and Codex.
