Using AI to Reverse-Engineer Viral Fortune-Telling Videos on Xiaohongshu
yangyi · x · 2026-11-05
Blogger yangyi shared a hands-on workflow using LLMs to bulk-analyze viral BaZi (Chinese fortune-telling) videos on Xiaohongshu. He found two types of posts get unusually high engagement: readings of "unlucky people" and of sex workers, and speculates on the psychology — viewers comparing their own fate or seeking reassurance.
The screenshot shows the full pipeline: the model transcribes a 57-second video, corrects subtitles against the fate chart, breaks down the fortune-telling logic line by line, flags dubious terms like "戊土生辰月", and rewrites everything into a ready-to-use colloquial script — with search calls and token usage tracked throughout.
It's a practical demo of using LLMs for viral content analysis and one-shot script regeneration.
