OpenAI buys Pierre, Meta snags Conductor as AI labs race to own the coding stack
新智元 · wechat · 2026-11-05
OpenAI announced the acquisition of Pierre Computer, whose code browsing, inline review and AI-native distributed Git (used by Lovable, 8M+ repos/week) fill Codex's gaps — days after OpenAI's self-built Git backend Pando pushed 1PB daily at 5x speed following its monorepo collapse under agent load. The same night, Meta's Superintelligence Labs absorbed Conductor, the multi-agent coding orchestrator used by 100K+ developers, with its team joining Nat Friedman and Alexandr Wang. Cursor (Origin), Anthropic (Scion) and ex-GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke are all circling Microsoft's GitHub: the battle has shifted from writing code to owning review, storage and workflow.
