Survival LLM: a free offline AI packing 1.5M articles into an 8.8GB download
mhdfaran · x · 2026-11-05
Open-source project survival-llm is a free AI assistant and survival library that runs entirely on your own computer with no internet required. A single 8.8GB download bundles 1.5 million articles sourced from top Wikipedia, WikiMed, CDC, FEMA, US military manuals, and iFixit.
It answers questions like keeping food safe in a blackout, treating burns, or purifying water, and highlights the exact source passage behind every answer. Model and library stay local, so questions never leave your machine. The repo has 1.5k stars on GitHub — set it up while you still have internet.
