HydraDB: a Rust graph database that keeps state in S3 and treats query workers as disposable compute
JeremyCMorgan · x · 2026-11-05
HydraDB is an open-source, object-store-native distributed graph database written in Rust that combines SlateDB-backed durable graph storage with snapshot-consistent OpenCypher queries and GraphBLAS-based computation.
The core architectural idea: keep durable state in S3-style object storage while treating query workers as disposable compute, fully separating graph storage from execution. The project has drawn 13.1k stars and 5.4k forks on GitHub and is licensed under AGPL-3.0.
