A2A Protocol Recap: Five Mechanisms for Making AI Agents Work Together
goyalshaliniuk · x · 2026-11-05
Final post of the A2A series, recapping how the open protocol lets agents built with different technologies communicate.
Five core mechanisms:
- Agent Cards for discovery of capabilities and connection details
- Task delegation to share responsibilities between agents
- Messages and artifacts to move information and results
- Async tasks for longer workflows
- Streaming via Server-Sent Events for real-time progress updates
Key point: A2A doesn't replace the orchestration layer — it gives that layer a standard way to talk to remote agents. The future is about making different agents work together, not just building smarter ones.
