Users report ChatGPT Codex, Gemini and DeepSeek all degrading sharply since early October
Alex-2503 · reddit · 2026-11-05
A Redditor reports a noticeable, simultaneous quality decline across multiple AI systems since early October 2026 — not occasional hallucinations, but tasks the models used to handle well suddenly failing:
- OpenAI Codex: previously one-sentence prompts produced excellent CAD reconstructions from 3D-scanned STL files; now even detailed instructions lead to misunderstood geometry, wrong drawings, and Astra burning through usage limits much faster
- DeepSeek: gave outright wrong technical info about 3D scanning and confidently insisted it matched official manufacturer recommendations — it was the opposite
- Gemini: basic mistakes on camera lenses, adapters, crop factors and focal lengths
- Other users report Claude/Claude Code reliability dropping too
What worries the author is that the issues appeared around the same time across different companies — possibly model updates, reasoning settings or context management changes, or coincidence. The post asks professional users to compare performance over time: are models actually getting worse?
