Claude spontaneously finds a serious OpenBLAS bug while just explaining code to a user
Aizkmusic · x · 2026-11-05
A developer asked Claude to explain some code pasted from the OpenBLAS repo — and Claude proactively flagged a suspected bug, spent 15 minutes tinkering and running tests, then concluded it was serious enough to report to the maintainers, who may have users hitting it in production already.
The author frames it as the "infinite software crisis" playing out in realtime: the model went from passive explainer to autonomous code auditor on its own initiative. The bug has not yet been confirmed by OpenBLAS maintainers.
