31.7MB Open-Weights TTS Model Woof Powers an Entire Browser Game, Fully On-Device via WebGPU
brandon_xyzw · x · 2026-11-05
Underdog built a 31.7MB browser game, Woof Escape, where every voice and song is generated locally by its open-weights TTS model Woof.
Key details
- Woof is just 30.7M parameters, 31.7MB, runs in-browser via WebGPU on your own GPU, Apache 2.0 licensed.
- It runs 18x faster than real-time on a single laptop CPU thread; the audio decoder follows Kyutai's Mimi design, trained partly on LibriTTS-R.
- All game music was generated offline on an M5 Max 48GB in 39–131 seconds per track; no data ever leaves the device.
- Built with three.js, sharing one device for both model inference and graphics—a playful demo of on-device AI. Beating the villain earns a product invite.
