New bioRxiv preprint measures E. coli protein yield at scale, builds predictors

Kotaro Tsuboyama's lab released a bioRxiv preprint, "Massively parallel quantification and prediction of monomeric protein yield in E. coli". Motivation: we can now design fancy de novo proteins, but can they be produced at scale, at reasonable cost, and without extensive optimization? The team measured monomeric protein yield in E. coli at scale and built predictors to guide protein design, led by Selena Setsu and Kaori Kiyokawa. It addresses the gap between designing proteins and actually manufacturing them.
