Translucent launches as agent infrastructure for hardware teams' physical testing workflows

Founder Yashas Gunderia introduced Translucent, a "physical test infrastructure" for hardware teams built around a workspace rather than a chat interface, on the premise that real experiments don't fit into one conversation: test files change, results come back late, and some tests can't run.
How it works:
- Engineers set the goal and limits; the agent proposes the work
- Scientific tools run calculations; people approve physical experiments
- Everything is recorded, so teams can revisit what was tested, what the model believed at the time, and why it changed its plan
A demo screenshot shows a lithium-battery investigation: the agent outlines 49 images with SAM 3.1, measures lithium filament growth against a known gap, retries with robust median-based stats to handle outliers, and tracks spend ($2.92 of $3.81) plus offline re-checks.
