Memory prices now show up in Arm's royalty line as DRAM costs squeeze smartphones

tengyanAI · x · 2026-11-05

Memory pricing has now surfaced in Arm's shareholder letter: royalties grew 8% last quarter (with data center royalties doubling), but growth was dragged down by the smartphone market, which Arm explicitly blames on memory pricing — a named cause absent from all previously tracked letters.

DRAM contract prices keep rising; royalty growth also dipped in March before rebounding. Arm expects royalties to accelerate as new designs ship, with the December quarter facing last year's record $737M.

tengyanAI adds that memory prices are hitting everyone across the board, and suggests memory makers stopping profit-maxxing could actually help sustainable growth of the AI buildout.
