Apple is tightening internal AI usage budgets: daily token caps for some engineers dropped from $300 to $200 last month, with cuts to $100 under consideration, and some non-engineering teams could see limits reduced from $100 to as little as $25. Apple is also pushing teams toward cheaper or locally run models—even as FY26 R&D spending rose 32%, driven by infrastructure and AI costs.
