OpenAI released GPT Image 2.6 (Sunburst and Flare), reportedly running almost 2x faster than GPT Image 2.5. LMArena results:
- Text-to-Image Arena: Sunburst (Medium) ranks #2 with 1409 pts; Flare (Medium) #4 with 1384 pts. By category, Sunburst takes #1 in Cartoon, Anime & Fantasy.
- Image Edit Arena: Sunburst (Medium) is #3 with 1476 pts; Flare (Medium) #5 with 1462 pts.
OpenAI says the models maintain lead quality with enhanced photorealism, greater editing consistency, and a dynamic reasoning level enabling latency as low as 5 seconds. With this release, OpenAI remains the #1 lab in both arenas and holds all top-5 text-to-image spots.
