A Reddit analysis using dcmap.us data finds 63% of planned/under-construction US data centers are in states whose governors (Texas, Virginia, Georgia, Ohio, New York, Washington, and others) pledged to ban or pause new builds; another 14% are in states that campaigned as hostile to data centers.
The author quips "they're popping Champagne in Beijing," implying US compute expansion faces growing political headwind. Percentages were calculated based on power consumption.
