Claude Code cuts background subagent status update cost ~99% using Haiku 5.5

Anthropic's official Claude Devs account announced that background subagents in Claude Code now use less of your usage limit.
Previously, a running subagent updated its status line every 30 seconds, and each update re-read its entire conversation. Now Haiku 5.5 writes the status from short notes instead, cutting the cost of each update by roughly 99% — a meaningful quota saving for developers running heavy background-subagent workflows.
