Robotics dexterity debate: human average motor skill may simply outclass robots
herbiebradley · x · 2026-11-05
Responding to the claim that physical jobs don't require exceptional abilities, herbiebradley offers an alternative explanation: painting may indeed require high dexterity — it's just that average manual laborers already have dexterity well above current robots. This echoes Moravec's paradox: human motor skill is highly evolved, and machine dexterity has proven much harder to build than machine intelligence.
