Accounting can't be one-shotted: Accrual on rebuilding tax workflows with AI
marcbhargava · x · 2026-11-05
General Catalyst interviews Accrual (co-founded with getCos), an AI accounting startup. Key insight: accounting can't be one-shotted — one firm uses six different systems to prepare a single tax return. Accrual's AI drafts work across tax, audit, and advisory, then flags what needs a closer look, aiming to turn accounting from a cost center into a growth lever.
getCos adds that introducing AI is only part of the job: many workflows were built around the limitations of older software, and the bigger opportunity is rethinking how the work gets done through close collaboration with the people doing it.
