OpenAI claims Astra designed hardware in a week; engineer's LTspice test flopped
cneuralnetwork · x · 2026-11-05
OpenAI shared progress on ChatGPT and Codex for physical-world engineering—mechanical design, electrical engineering, and simulation—claiming Astra designed an entire hardware device in under a week. A reposting engineer offers a counterexample: asked to convert an LTspice file to a schematic, Astra left most connections incomplete, raising the question of whether AI is replacing hardware engineers or just generating errors they must fix.
