particle-1 tested on real agent work: near-Opus quality for under $2 a day
heyneighbor · x · 2026-11-05
The OpenClaw team tested particleapi's particle-1 on one of their production agents, using Claude Opus as the quality bar.
- Reviewed 28 example scripts for a book project and found two real bugs — on par with Opus.
- Wrote a property lookup tool in 11 minutes, but missed two bugs their review agent caught.
- Passed every tool and browser test (logs, file checks, web lookups, paging, scrolling, tables, trick questions), faster than Opus both times.
- Day-one cost: under $2.
Early verdict: an affordable model can handle everyday tool work, code review and browser tasks.
